Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for details.

A senior representative stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
